Organic Health!

By Martia Augustin July 26, 2020
In my 30s I became very concerned about what I ate and my appearance. I wondered if there was anyway to find out if I was eating the right foods. In 2007, while holidaying in Virginia, US, I came across a copy of a book called ‘‘Eat Right 4 Your Type” by Dr Peter D’Adamo’. I was very interested in reading this book. I took time to go through the information. My interest increased, so I decided to give the ‘blood type’ diet a try. The results were surprising. I followed the programme literally by excluded the foods to avoid such as potato, meat, chicken, eggs, dairy products and certain fruits & vegie, and replaced them with ‘beneficial foods’ including soya products, green vegetables (broccoli, spinach etc) and of course, fresh fish such as salmon, sardines and mackerel. I also included herbal teas (rosehip, echinacea, green tea, lemon, lime) I studied vigilantly the type of ingredients on food packaging; checked against type-base verses database to make sure they were beneficial or neutral before purchasing. My immune system became stronger. I no longer get the flu/cold often as before. Following the new diet regime helped me to be more energized throughout the day. I never felt drained out after a hard day’s work and had a clearer mind. My increased energy and good health helped me to be stress free and enjoyed my lifestyle. Important tops: For Your Type. The mystery between blood type A, B, C, AB & O and healthy eating. Our blood types play a significant conditioning role on the population of bacteria, viruses and other microbes that constitute the outer world inside our bodies (Dr Peter D’Adamo, 2019). Interestingly, I read an article published in a journal called, ”Science Bulletin” which showed evidence of the link between blood type and microbiome. The article described how a group of researchers found that ‘gut’ bacteria possessing the same antigen structure as the blood type of the host human were over – represented i.e. bacteria resembling blood type A were found in greater frequency and abundance in the digestive tracts of type A human subject. After following this diet and of course, including exercise, Pilates, running, walking helped me pursue a career in nutrition and weight management. I obtained my Master Degree of Science in Exercise Prescription; and certified as a Nutrition Consultant. I also trained and registered as a Pilates Teacher.
